December Greens

Welcome December! I couldn't decide on a color for this month - between red and green so I will feature both. . . .and most likely white since we are having beautiful winter weather here in Idaho.
I love feather trees! One of my favorite ones is our minty green feather tree which we always decorate with our bird ornaments.
What colors come to mind with green? Mint, forest, olive, fern, pine, chartreuse, spruce, grass, holiday green, leaf green, and moss. Do you decorate with greens for Christmas, have a fresh tree, or bake green cookies?
The winner of our NOVEMBER CONTEST was comment #3 by MARGARET!! Please email me your address so I can send out your fall stitching packet!   My email is
Now, for a December contest: Leave me a comment with your favorite cookie recipe. Can you tell I'm looking for a new recipe to try? This is worth $50 in Silk 'n Colors for the winner - all in some of my favorite 'greens'. We'll pick this winner on December 5th!! So don't delay as I need a new recipe before Dec 8th as we are having a soap and body butter open house on the 12th!
More later as I'm now dyeing - green that is.

  1. Well my favourite cookie recipe can be found here on this wonderful lady's blog. It is so simple yet tastes amazing! Hope you give it a try! x

  2. OOH! Here's my favorite cookie recipe (a link, as so not to violate copyright): Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies from Bon Appetite.

I've made these; they are a bit labor intensive, but boy are they good. And they last a long time in the fridge. I think ate my last one about the end of January (I needed to ration them, otherwise I would have eaten them in one sitting).

And I have just the project to use some great greens on. Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. This is a favorite at our house. And it works well for any holiday if you change the color of the filling. You will love them and I would LOVE some new Silk N' Colors!

    Homemade Oreo Cookies

2 boxes of Devil’s Food Cake Mix
    1 1/2 cups shortening
    4 eggs

Mix together and spoon out on cookie sheets, a cookie scoop makes them easier and more uniform. Bake for 9 minutes at 350’. Let cool and put together with the following filling:

    8 ounces cream cheese
    3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
food coloring to match the season

  4. Oh wow! I can't believe I won! Thank you! I sent you an email. Now for our favorite cookie recipe -- it has to be the Neiman Marcus oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie recipe. Just google it and you'll find it. It's sooooooo good!

  5. Thanks ladies for the posts thus far! Looks like chocolate is a hands down favorite thus far! I look forward to trying all of your recipes! Good luck when we pick the winning comment!

  6. Hi Cece--so which of the cookie recipes did you make and what did you think of them?

I hope the open house goes well...

    Carol S.

  7. Love your silk ribbons! They are amazing! I didn't realize you had a blog - new follower and read back several entries. I will be reading them all as you post.
